Aboriginal Borrower Community Card

In 2018, UBC Library launched an Aboriginal Community Borrower Card that will give First Nations communities across BC free access to the Library’s in-person research material. I was in-charge of creating the promotional print piece that was made available during the opening event of UBC’s Residential School History and Dialogue Centre (RSHDC).

Designing for the community

When designing this promotional piece, I always kept the audience front of mind. The audience for this is: self-identified Indigenous community members. This promotional print piece was created with the intention of being distributed to various departments on campus and potentially out in community centers across Vancouver and BC.

Collaborating with campus partners

Being a UBC-wide initiative, the promotional pamphlet had to be UBC brand compliant while incorporating the campus presence of Xwi7xwa Library, First Nations Longhouse, RSHDC, Koerner Library and Irving K. Barber Learning Centre. This resulted in creating a map highlighting their campus presence, proper logos and appropriate copy.
