Creative Direction for the new Emerging Media Lab launch
I led the photography and creative direction of the promotional materials for the new Emerging Media Lab. The new innovative space is located in UBC’s Irving K. Barber Learning Centre. The Library Communications team was in-charge of developing visual assets to be used for the announcement, press, and evergreen content showcasing the new space.

About
UBC Library Communications and Marketing, in partnership with UBC IT and UBC Studios, launched the new Emerging Media Lab in IKBLC. The interview proper was conducted by my colleague, Michelle Blackwell. I was the creative lead and photographer, while Michelle managed the shoot and wrote the article.
Creative direction
I conceptualized the storyboard for the video and directed the UBC Studios videographer and the video subjects – faculty member and students. The main challenge was for us to clearly show the Emerging Media Lab’s location within IKBLC, and why it’s a strategic location for an innovative space.
Emerging Media Lab’s new home in UBC Library brings tools for learning to a wider audience
UBC’s Emerging Media Lab (EML) has a new hub, right in the heart of campus. Established in 2016 as an experimental space where faculty, students, and staff from all disciplines could collaborate with industry and community, the lab made its mission to evolve learning by creating tools and techniques using emerging media including Augmented, Mixed, and Virtual Reality.
