Every Child Matters: Orange Shirt Day campaign

September 30 is an annual day to recognize and raise awareness about the residential school system in Canada. In 2019, I had the honour of creating the “Every Child Matters” promotional assets for UBC’s Residential School History and Dialogue Centre (RSHDC).

Working within brand guidelines

The Communications lead of RSHDC reached out to me about creating an original poster design based on the existing branding of the Orange Shirt Day campaign, while maintaining UBC’s overarching brand guidelines.

Creating original illustrations

In order to affect a positive change on the UBC Vancouver campus, I worked on creating a design that was like taking a breath of fresh air. I created saturated original illustrations to add visual levity for better content absorption.

The poster and original illustrations I created was distributed to various faculties and departments across UBC Vancouver campus. The design I created was also repurposed as RSHDC Orange Shirt Day landing page and social media assets.
