ARTIVISM 2021: Queering the Self

From September 24 to October 22, UBC Artivism engaged through the theme Queering the Self, which provided space for underrepresented voices from our community and beyond to explore the intersections of their identity through the lens of the digital.

Campaign highlights

Presented by UBC Arts and Culture District 2021 festival Artistic Director/Producer Bianca Santana, in partnership with the Exposure UBC student club team, this annual festival highlighted stories of resilience and student activist art that challenges dominant narratives through live performances, poetry, music, and more. There was something for everyone; the events included a wide range of in-person and online activities.

Working with Arts and Culture District

Without the Library is UBC Library Communications and Marketing campaign that solely focuses on the students, the platforms they’re active on, and their thoughts about the Library. Conceptualizing with students in mind, I looked toward modern, fun, and youth-focused platforms for inspiration.

Creating the landing page

Playing outside the box of corporate design, I had the opportunity to autonomously animate and illustrate fun graphics. I created all of the illustrations from scratch, crafting most of the pieces based on the story of the student.

Developing the key visual

On the communications side, I led the promotional strategy of the campaign, which includes paid Instagram and Facebook ads. This was the first paid campaign that the Library Communications and Marketing team conducted, and I can proudly say that managed the analytics and based strategy moving forward on data.
